Our Manifesto
WE BELIEVE
...in thinking beyond stainless steel appliances
...in telling a story
...all gossip is good gossip
...no one talks about the wallflower
...if you’re looking for a recliner, we aren’t your ppl
...in a fully stocked liquor cabinet
...we can’t save your life, but we’ll change your life
...you should know the rules before breaking them
...in vacations long enough to forget your passwords
...you should buy the chandelier before the handbag
...in putting the art before the horse
...a perfect balance is not perfect
...every style works if executed beautifully
...in having a flair for the dramatic
...that cozy is a trigger word
...there is nothing sexier than being yourself
...the ppl involved in a design are the real magic
Erin Haskell Gourde
FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Design for the PPL’s founder and principal designer Erin Haskell Gourde has always been destined for a career in the arts. A foundation in fashion–with exciting work at Stella McCartney’s London studio, an Arizona-based luxury lifestyle magazine publishing house and creative pursuits of her own–gave Haskell Gourde a base of knowledge and understanding that design and style could be a fulfilling career path, and one fit for her unique skillset.
‍
Haskell Gourde’s career trajectory was solidified when she earned her Master’s degree in Interior Design in 2013. She took her interest in interiors and architecture more seriously, and began to hone her craft with small projects. Time spent at renowned architect firms, like the iconic Herman-Miller, were just the start of her post-grad design journey, strengthening her expertise and building her design portfolio.
‍
Full-service interior and architecture design studio Design for the PPL was built in 2016 upon Haskell Gourde’s foundation of design knowledge, love of people and of spaces. Her team, contractors, clients and their personalities–coupled with her near-psychic ability to look at a space and know instantly what it should become–are her inspiration and magic, informing her daily work.
‍
Haskell Gourde works out of Spokane, Washington, offering commercial and residential design up the West coast, including full design services, or her expertise for a single day. Her new Spokane showroom offers luxe goods from all over the world, modern and unique furniture, carefully-curated decor, art and other nonsense to delight design clients and the public alike.
Meet The Team
Zach Gourde
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, VOICE OF REASON
Zach’s circuitous route to interior design might not be what you would expect. After arriving in Spokane to play basketball at Gonzaga in 1998, he meadered to Europe after changing his major 5 times. Basketball was the vehicle that allowed Zach to see the world and gave him the deep appreciation of the beauty of design.
He helped his wife, Erin open the design studio in 2016, while still keeping his day job running an Environmental Drilling company covering all the western states. He continued Design for the PPL as a nights and weekends gig until coming on board full time in 2021.
Every creative business needs someone who can help make sure the trains run on time so you won’t often find Zach paging through wallpaper books or looking at fabric swatches, but you can find him putting the finishing touches on commercial and residential spaces making sure everyone gets the full PPL experience.Â
